IX SIMPOSIO DE PRODUCCIÓN DE ALCOHOLES Y LEVADURAS - LATINOAMERICANO
El Taller Internacional de Producción de Alcoholes y Levaduras (TIPAL) se organizó por primera vez en febrero del 1997 en la Universidad de Matanzas con patrocinio de la corporación CubaRon S.A. y del Ministerio del Azúcar de la República de Cuba (MINAZ). En esa ocasión, el evento contó con la participación de personalidades académicas e industriales de Cuba y otros seis países.
En las siguientes tres ediciones, realizadas en Matanzas (1999) y en Varadero (2001 y 2003), el taller fue ampliándose y ganando prestigio y reconocimiento. Es por eso, que a partir de la quinta edición, celebrada en Campos do Jordão, Brasil, el evento pasó a denominarse Simposio Internacional de Producción de Alcoholes y Lev
aduras (SIPAL) y su sede comenzó a rotarse por varios países. Las siguientes ediciones fueron celebradas en Bogotá, Colombia (2007), Acapulco, México (2009) y Lima, Perú (2011).
En esa última edición, a propuesta de los delegados, se decidió darle al evento un carácter más latinoamericano por lo que, manteniendo las mismas siglas, el evento pasó a denominarse Simposio de Producción de Alcoholes y Levaduras-Latinoamericano.
En esta oportunidad, le corresponde a la Universidad de Matanzas organizar la novena edición de este simposio, el cual tiene los siguientes objetivos:
• Reunir representantes de los sectores académicos y productivos relacionados directa o indirectamente con la producción de etanol, bebidas alcohólicas, biocombustibles y levaduras.
• Promover el intercambio científico relacionado con la producción de etanol y bebidas alcohólicas, así como con la investigación sobre Biotecnología de levaduras, biocombustibles y biorrefinerías.
• Contribuir a mejorar la cooperación latinoamericana e internacional en la investigación sobre etanol, bebidas alcohólicas, levaduras, biocombustibles y biorrefinerías.
IX LATIN AMERICAN SYMPOSIUM ON ALCOHOLS AND YEAST PRODUCTION
The International Workshop on Alcohols and Yeast Production (TIPAL) was
organised for the very first time in February 1997 by the University of
Matanzas, and was sponsored by CubaRon S.A. and by the Cuban Ministry of
Sugar (MINAZ). The workshop was attended by academicians and industry
people from Cuba and six other countries. In the next three editions,
which were held in Matanzas (1999) and Varadero (2001 and 2003), the
workshop attracted more attendants and gained in acknowledgment.
Therefore, starting from the fifth edition, held in Campos do Jordão,
Brazil, the meeting denomination changed to International Symposium on
Alcohols and Yeast Production (SIPAL), and it started to be organized in
different countries. The next editions were held in Bogota, Colombia
(2007), Acapulco, Mexico (2009) and Lima, Peru (2011). In the last
edition, it was decided to give more Latin american caracter to the
meeting and rename it as Latin American Symposium on Alcohols and Yeast
Production.
Now, it is Cuba’s turn again, and the University of
Matanzas is organising the ninth edition of the symposium, which is
aimed to:
• Meet together representants of academic and
industrial sectors dealing directly or indirectly with the production of
ethanol, alcoholic beverages, biofuels and yeasts.
• To promote
the scientific exchange dealing with the current advances in the
production of ethanol and alcoholic beverages, and with the research on
the fields of yeast biotechnology, biofuels and biorefineries.
•
To contribute to improving Latin American and international co-operation
in research related to ethanol, alcoholic beverages, yeast
biotechnology, biofuels and biorefineries.
